I would first like to start off by saying that I truly enjoyed this class for multiple reasons. The first reason I liked it is because I think that it was the only class that I have taken here at Assumption that actually treats the students as if this was the real world. We worked in groups because most likely it will be that way when we join the work force. We did not have to write long essays about what we were doing we actually got to do it. We learned how to be assertive and professional which will definitely aid in our success once we graduate. Another aspect about the course that I thought was great was the fact that we had guest speakers who are out in the real world. It was nice to be able to ask questions and get insight into all the different jobs that we could possibly have.
As for my own growth from the course I must say I have learned so much. At first I was a little turned off by the fact that we were just supposed to go off and try everything without much guidance. However, once I got used to this it became fun to try new things to see if they did and did not work. Although frustrating at times this form of learning is one of the best. Everyone always says you learn from your mistakes and experiences, well in this class that was definitely the case. I had hardly any experience in using any of the programs we used in class and even though I am not walking away with an extensive knowledge of all the programs I do have the confidence to work through them and explore them freely. This course has taught me not to be afraid to try new things and try teaching myself. I feel as though I have matured as a learner and as a person who will soon join the “real world.”
