Angela Fiducia to Lucy and Sarah Chase, 1864

[Note written at top of page, presumably by Lucy or Sarah Chase:] to us in Dixie

My Dearest Friends.

May the Invisible Power guide and protect thee, as thou goest forth to brave the dangers of ignorance and war, and in his own due time return thee safe home, unto the many glad hearts which ever await thy coming.
If strong and mighty in War, as thou art gentle and true in Peace, multitudes shall bow before thee, as a field of grain before the winds.

That the great struggle may soon be ended, I much desire but not until events shall teach the nation how great the necessity that all mankind shall be considered as having God-given rights, to be respected aside from color, and prejudice of condition.

Therefore, I hope you may soon return home in health and happiness, to greet us one by one.

May the kind Father take care of you; himself working through you, is the sincere desire of

Angela
